About the Role

Working within the City Sustainability team, the Land Conservation Officer is responsible for supporting a range of programs and services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan.

This role is responsible for the management of Council’s nature conservation areas, including the activities of:

  • Sustainable land management, including weed and fire management 
  • Conservation planning, including revegetation
  • Lake management
  • Program engagement and education with community
  •  

     

About You

To be considered in this role, you must have the following:

  • Diploma qualifications in Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent.
  • Extensive practical experience and knowledge in land management activities, including project management and/or contractor supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and implementation of land/weed (or relevant) management plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively collaborate with stakeholders in the effective delivery of projects.
  • Excellent customer service skills with experience in handling complex customer enquiries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and build rapport across the organisation and within community.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work autonomously in meeting deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety procedure and practice.
  • White Card - current or ability to obtain.
