About the Opportunity

To continue meeting community needs and continued growth the city now seeks applications for the position of Place and Culture Lead.

As an energetic leader, this is an exciting opportunity to facilitate collaboration across the organisation to assist in growing the City's vibrancy  and ensure the public realm connects communities and businesses and contributes to the long-term prosperity of the City.

Working closely with the City Activation Manager, you will help lead and deliver on a diverse range of programs and projects which support community participation.  This includes arts and culture, the creation of a sense of place, and the promotion of the sustainability of local creative industries for the wellbeing and cultural vitality of Palmerston.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement creative programs for community engagement.
  • Actively contribute to policy development, support the implementation and delivery of the Creative Industries Strategy and the Palmerston Local Economic Plan.
  • Foster collaboration with stakeholders to maximise creative opportunities.
  • Apply best practices in creative industries and placemaking.
  • Budget management with expert advice to ensure an integrated approach to the planning, commissioning and management of public art and other special projects
  • Promote local arts and culture, support arts participation, and enhance creative industry profiles.

About You

To support your success in this role, you will have:

  • Well-developed cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to work effectively at both operational and policy levels.
  • Significant experience in working in a large, multifaceted organisation with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to think strategically, develop creative solutions, and achieve outcomes.
  • Sound knowledge of best and innovative practices in creative industries and place-making.
  • Highly developed both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of strategies.
  • Extensive experience with project management, including project planning and scoping, research, analysis and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining industry partnerships and networks.
  • Experience in financial management including budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated success with initiating and managing arts and cultural development projects

 

A tertiary qualification in arts and cultural development, or equivalent with substantial relevant experience working within a community-arts role

is required to be successful in this role.
