City of Palmerston is the Northern Territory’s youngest city and is located 20 kilometres south-east of the Northern Territory’s capital Darwin. Palmerston has grown rapidly in a short period of time and in 2023 its population of almost 40,000 people live in 14 suburbs, with around 5000 registered animals.
About the Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a motivated and experienced individual to join the Regulatory Services Team as the Regulatory Services Operations Coordinator.
Working with the Regulatory Services Manager you will shape and influence community wellbeing and lifestyle by ensuring the City of Palmerston is 'A Place for People', in line with the vision of the Community Plan. The role involves the delivery of statutory and educational services achieving compliance and excellent customer service, and promoting good social behaviour in the community.
You will manage the operational activities of the team to meet community expectations, deliver organisational key performance indicators and maintain accountabilities. As a leader you will play an important role in establishing, cultivating and maintaining a culture of collaboration, commitment and accountability, driven by a high customer service focus consistent with the strategic direction of Council. This will be underpinned by leading the most effective use of Council's resources and a customer ethos of "people are at the centre of all we do and deliver."
This position is located within the fast-paced and busy environment and reports directly to the Regulatory Services Manager. This is an exciting opportunity as the City of Palmerston has commenced the review of its related By-Laws to ensure that we are applying modern and contemporary practices to delivery outcomes for the community.
About You
We are looking for a person that will provide strong and effective decision-making through constructive and collaborative participation in the team, and spearhead the team’s operations by driving capability, accountability, and outcomes through their proven success. Experienced, calm, flexible, and well organised, the successful candidate will be able to work under pressure. If you have extensive relevant experience underpinned by appropriate qualifications, with a concise understanding of animal welfare and community education approaches plus proven experience in leading a team, this may be the next opportunity for you.
